Research and Keywords

We are currently in the middle of a small research project involving our move to thinking about how early humans began to settle and farm instead of roaming from place to place in search of food.

We have discussed the characteristics of a good research question and today we began thinking about keyword searches.  We are using databases found within Iowa AEA Online, and knowing what to search is the first challenge we have confronted within this project.  Many of us are realizing our topic/research question might be too narrow, and we are working to revise our questions.

We will move into note taking next using the main ideas and details structure we learned earlier this year.

Students are really coming up with some interesting questions that I am excited to watch them explore!  What is even more exciting is watching them through this process of research.  They are really beginning to understand the importance of constant revision and refocusing.  When we learn new information, we have to revise the old to make room for the new!
